The Well of Love is a small spring nestled in the vineyards of Dorlisheim. Its Alsatian name, Dattelbrunne (“the source of Attale”) pays homage to Saint Attale, niece of Sainte Odile. It is mentioned that pilgrimages took place at the source since 1277, but probably even before. Believers came to ask Saint Attale to relieve them fromr toothaches and fevers. The French name, the Well of Love, reveals an attachment to the following legend: it was told to the young children that they were born at this place.
