Our family farm is located in Duppigheim on the Bruche plain, halfway between Strasbourg and Molsheim, and has been growing organic asparagus, strawberries, rhubarb, potatoes and cereals for 10 years.
The farm has been run by our family for 4 generations, growing wheat, corn and tobacco on around 30 hectares, and raising around 15 dairy cows until the early 90s.
Tobacco production was abandoned in favor of asparagus when Richard HECKMANN took over the farm in 1988. Dairy farming was phased out at the same time.
The farm became a cereal farm, with a small area devoted to asparagus and strawberries, until 2008, when it switched to organic farming.
Certified Organic since 2010, the farm has specialized in asparagus and strawberry production, increasing its acreage by a factor of 10 compared with the conventional farming period.
We also grow rhubarb, potatoes and onions. A large part of our farm is still cultivated with organic cereals.
